The nail art game was incredibly strong at fashion weeks across the world this spring, with some stand out looks featuring wild embellishments including crystals and barbed wire. These are the most wearable looks that emerged on the catwalks and are set to adorn our nails through spring and beyond.
Stripes
Stripes were everywhere, from a French manicure update with a simple stripe of green at the tip to black diagonal go faster sporty stripes, a single slick of burgundy at the base of a nail and - the most minimal of all - a single vertical or horizontal stripe as seen at Kate Spade and Philip Lim. Easy to achieve? Yes. The height of chic? That's what the catwalks say.
Metallics
Metal-tipped nails aren't going anywhere, but the art is in choosing the right metallics. Gold is a perennial favourite and looks sensational with a tan, while a five varnish ombre effect ranging from palest on the thumbnail to deepest on the little finger looks absolutely sensational and means you don't have to choose just one nail varnish colour. Want a more subtle effect? Then try a metallic tipped French mani as seen at Sachin + Babi. The hot colour for this year's metallics is Topshop's deep metallic green for proper 80s Club Kid Nails - drop dead gorgeous.
Nothing but neutrals
There was a lot of play with neutral nails and negative space at the shows this year. But just because you're sticking to a neutral palette, less can still be more. Choose several neutrals including high contrast black and white or outline a nude nail with a rim of white or black - you'll need a steady hand but the effect can be amazing. Play with different textures to add real interest - matte in the centre of the nail with a high shine edge or vice versa.
Matchy matchy
One of the most fun trends on display was matching nails and eyeliner. Tom Ford pulled it off with a blend of black and glitter on nails and eyelids, while Ryan Lo featured frosted pastel nails paired with frosted eyeliner and false lashes.
Logo nails
Helmut Lang put his name on nude pink nails, while Kith replicated their logo on everything from jackets to nails. Don't have your own personal brand? Then design your own, paint your nails and add a Chromagel top coat for long-lasting perfection!
