Why lockdown has made us bolder in our choice of nail colour
One major beauty trend we’ve seen because of lockdown and the need to wear masks is people are paying more attention to those parts of their body, which are on display. That’s meant more spending on eye make up such as liners, mascara and brow pencils, but it’s also meant a lot of people turning towards their nails and going bolder in their choice of varnish or gel polish colour.
How bold will you go?
We’ve seen a rise in the number of people shying away from neutral nail varnish colours in favour of something to brighten the mood and lift their spirits. Bolder shades and glitter polishes have been flying off the shelves as people indulge in a little pampering and add a touch of glamour to lives that have become rather more mundane since the lockdowns began.
Hands seem to have become more important than ever over the course of the past year, particularly as many meetings take place online where people feel their appearances may be judged. It would also be true to say that for most people, we feel good when we look good – and when has there been a time when we’ve needed those feel-good vibes more?
Time to get experimental
A lot of us tend to stick to a handful of tried and trusted favourites when it comes to the shade of our nails. If lockdown has taught us anything, it’s to seize the moment and try and find those smaller sparks of joy, the little things we can appreciate to brighten some pretty dark days. The increase in sales of statement colours and glitter gel polish may be an indication of that.
If you’re looking for inspiration to brighten up your look, then check out the Beauty Hair nail polish collection. We stock all sorts of glam, bold shades for you to get experimental with, so pop your neutral polishes back in the bag for a bit and get creative with our online catalogue of polishes.
We all need a little pick me up at the moment, and, as far as we’re concerned, gorgeous nails are a great place to start!
